A tunnel for Seattle?
Yesterday I read about plans of a tunnel being built connecting Spain and Marocco. First the English Channel and now the Straight of Gibraltar! What a thrilling idea. And why is it that Seattle and the State of Washington cannot get their act together and rid themselves of one of two ghastly highways through this beautiful city? Some things you just can't allow to be determined by shortsighted bottom line thinking. Imagine Munich's city center being assaulted by Autobahn #8. (Rick Steves would throw a fit) It is beyond comprehension. At what point have American city fathers (mothers) and/or governors stopped being bold and visionary?

Very interesting Rosina. You've made a great point and the picture is beautiful.
I don't want another stacked up freeway along the waterfront. I am just as sure I would not travel in a tunnel along there, either! I have no solutions... just too many earthquakes under my belt! Beth
